About Shur-A-Tak

Walter Nagel III

Since Walter H. Nagel III (Wally) began his career in mechanics and carpentry, he has had a desire to improve the tools he uses every day. On his way home from a job site several years ago, Walter devised a solution to a constant problem that he and his co-workers were facing. He realized that there needed to be a tool that could secure, capture, release and extract a fastener while installing sheeting and framing material. Thus, SHUR-A-TAK was born.

Founded in 2015, SHUR-A-TAK was built on the principles of performance and reliability. Our team has worked tirelessly to ensure that the SHUR-A-TAK impact gun attachment becomes an irreplaceable tool for contractors, tradesmen, and even DIYers. As a multi-generational, family-owned business based in the United States, SHUR-A-TAK has a leadership team with more than 72 years of expertise in the manufacturing and construction industries, dating back to the 1940s. As a veteran-owned company, SHUR-A-TAK holds itself to the highest standards, knowing what it means to be ARMY tough.

Walter H. Nagel III (“Wally”), CEO of SHUR-A-TAK, is a veteran of the U.S. Army, trained in mechanics and carpentry. Wally is presently a Union Journeyman Carpenter as well as the owner and creator of the SHUR-A-TAK impact gun tool attachment.

While serving active duty in the United States Army, Wally's creativity allowed him to develop innovative tools and procedures for mechanics working in the motor pool. These inventions were recognized and implemented by the U.S. military, reducing operational maintenance times and costs.

His grandfather, Walter Sr., was the co-owner of Prospect Mold and Die in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio where he invented the Spotting Press. Wally’s father, Walter Jr., was a U.S. Army Reserve Lt.
